QUESTION: I was wondering if it was okay for me to take a medication
called Midron which is used for migraine headaches while breastfeeding
my daughter?
Thank you.

Kimberly
Very little is known about the effects of Midrin (Tylenol is its major
component) in the nursing baby. There are better choices available that are compatible
with nursing such as Imitrex, Elavil, and Inderal. The medications that I suggest as
alternatives Elavil and Inderal are for prevention more than stopping a current attack and
have mild side effects in the MOTHER (not seen in the baby) -- dry mouth, some drowsiness
etc. These other types of treatment would be up to you to discuss with your doctor.
Good Luck
