 Buy Gentian Violet 1%.
1. Set up newspapers and paper towels on counter
2. Remember: bottle top has applicator in it-remove the top carefully
3. Assemble Q tips and Vaseline
4. Mom: undress to waist.
Dip q-tip in gentian violet. Paint first areola
Dip 2nd q tip, paint 2nd areola
Allow areolas to air dry
5. Baby: coat with Vaseline around mouth
Dip 3rd q-tip; touch baby's tongue. Mouth will paint itself
6. Use only paper towels and paper cups in bathroom for duration of treatment
7. Wash baby's linens, bathroom towels in HOT water, rinse cycle add 1-cup white
vinegar
8. Wash things that come into contact with baby's mouth in white vinegar and dry in the
sun.
9. Clean kitchen counter and bathroom with white vinegar
10. Can clean up from Gentian Violet with rubbing alcohol
11. Gentian Violet: 3 nights in a row. If symptoms persist, call your LC!
