I am nursing my son with much success, but
with the holidays drawing near, my husband and I have plans to
attend a few parties. I know that anything more than an
occasional glass of wine is a "no-no" so I have been expressing
some breastmilk in preparation for our upcoming outings. My
question is this, how long will it take for the alcohol to get
out of my system so that it is "safe" to nurse my son again?
(Let's assume that I drink enough to feel a little tipsy.) I
would appreciate any advice you can offer! Thank you & have a
happy & safe holiday!

By
the time you are no longer feeling "tipsy" it is OK to feed your son. Alcohol
does not go into your milk and stay there. It goes in and comes out. If you feel ok,
then most of the alcohol is out of your milk. If you have any doubt, pump and dump one
time and that should be fine.
